In a nutshell: This research looked at the relationship between breast-feeding and asthma in a child’s first 8 years.  The research concluded that breast-feeding for 4 months or more appeared to reduce the risk of asthma in the first 8 years of live and helps improve lung function generally.

In a nutshell: The text examines various studies on the effect of breastfeeding on asthma rates, including the one above.  It concludes that the study makes an important contribution to the on-going debate.  However, due to contrary results from various studies, a definitive answer remains elusive.
